The Task Force appointed to look into implementing the ‘One country one law ‘concept should have been headed by a monk nominated by the Mahanayaka thera, Parliamentarian- Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said yesterday.

MP-Fonseka told a press conference that a monk who should head the Taskforce should be one who was acceptable by everyone. Therefore the government should seek the advice of the Mahanayaka Theras with regard to such matters, he said.

“Venerable Galagodaththe Gnanasara Thera who heads the Task Force has said the appointment is an opportunity for him to put his ideologies into practice. This remark made by the monk only shows how he is going to handle the Task Force,” MP Fonseka said.

He said implementing the concept of ‘One Country one law ‘should be handled with utmost diligence. One cannot scrap laws such as the Kandiyan Law, the Thesawalami Law and the Muslim Law which were reverent to certain groups of people living in this country.
