The Mahanayake of the Malwatta Chapter Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera has decided not to permit any politicians to meet him.
Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa was not allowed to meet the Mahanayake Thera during his recent visit to Kandy and to submit the proposals of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya for the 21st Amendment to the Constitution. However he had the opportunity to meet the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter.
Meanwhile, a group of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna parliamentarians did not have the opportunity to submit to the Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatta Chapter a series of proposals to resolve the prevailing crisis.
The Ven Thera said the politicians had failed to resolve the burning issues affecting the people and would not welcome visitors. He pointed out that their memorandum containing six proposals including an interim government forwarded to the President, the Prime Minister and the leaders of political parties by the Mahanayakes of the three Chapters had not yet received a positive response.
However the Mahanayake Theras of the three Chapters have decided to convene a meeting of the leaders of all political parties to take up issues affecting the country at present.
