Former President Maithripala Sirisena and those in the security establishments only tried to ensure their own safety when they received prior warnings on the impending Easter Sunday attacks, Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said. 

Cardinal Ranjith who visited the residence of a native of Katuwapitiya who had lost all his family members during the Easter Sunday tragedy said the former President and the security establishment during that time had failed in their duty. " Former President and others in the security establishment only exchanged letters among them and only ensured their own safety.
