Majority of presidential candidates are yet to submit their campaign expenditure reports to date, the Election Commission (EC) disclosed over the weekend.
Out of 38 candidates who contested the election, only four complied with the regulations.
The candidates who submitted their expenditure reports include former minister and presidential candidate Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe from the National Democratic Front, Mahinda Devage representing the Socialist Party of Sri Lanka, independent candidates Pemasiri Manage, and K. Ananda Kulathilake.
The commission had mandated that all candidates submit their financial disclosures by October 13, in accordance with the law regulating election expenses.
Those who did not adhere to this requirement will face legal repercussions
