An individual who had in his possession a stock of high powered explosives was arrested by the Police Special Task Force (STF) on Saturday evening during a raid on a house in Pihimbiyagolla.
The 26-year-old suspect was a resident of Kiriyagalwewa in Ralapanawa in the Pihimbiyagolla Police area and a back-hoe operator by profession. The STF from Ulukkulama Camp had carried out the raid on intelligence received from an informant and arrested the suspect. They had seized 256 high powered Water gel explosive shells weighing 140grams each and 56 detonator cords of 170ft each. The suspect was handed over to Pihimbiyagolla police for further investigations with help of OIC Ulukkulama STF Camp S. Bulathsinghala on the instructions of DIG Waruna Jayasundara.
