A Sub Inspector and a Sergeant from the Panadura North Police were suspended yesterday following the incident in which a man had died after jumping off a moving police jeep.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the officers were suspended as they had not taken proper action regarding the security of the suspect.
In addition, a disciplinary inquiry is being conducted under the instructions of a Superintendent of Police, the spokesman said.
A 42-year-old man who was being taken to the police station for violating the quarantine rules, has died after jumping out of the moving police jeep on Sunday.
DIG Rohana said that investigation were also launched into the incident.
