The Piliyandala Police has launched an investigation after a Rs.6 million worth official car of a Magistrate was stolen from the Madapatha area after the Magistrate was locked up in a two-storied house.

Police said Kuliyapitiya Additional District Magistrate Amila Sri Sampath had lodged a complaint with the Piliyandala Police on Saturday in this regard.    The Magistrate had published an advertisement on a website to give his luxury house at Madapatha in Piliyandala on a rental basis.

Accordingly, the Magistrate had visited the house in his luxury car with the person who wanted to take his house on rent. The man reportedly hired a three-wheeler to reach the location.    While the Magistrate was showing the house, the concerned person had locked the Magistrate in an upstairs room and fled with the Magistrate’s luxury car.
Police said the suspect was able to escape with the car, as the Magistrate had kept his car key downstairs.

However, the Magistrate, who jumped out of the window of the room where he was locked up, informed the police about the incident.
