The Athurugiriya Police informed the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court on Monday that individuals, purportedly medical students taking part in the post-mortem, were responsible for circulating images of businessman Surendra Wasantha Perera’s body, also known as Club Wasantha who was fatally shot at a tattoo centre in Athurugiriya.
Approximately 30 individuals at Homagama Base Hospital have provided statements regarding the dissemination of these inappropriate images on social media platforms, the police had informed the court.
In their inquiry, authorities have collected testimonies and evidence from provincial journalists involved reporting on spreading of video footage linked to the tragic murder incident.
