We requested in March to vaccinate family members

While claiming that they did send a letter in March requesting the Health authorities to provide their family members with the COVID-19 vaccine, the Government Medical Officers’ Association said the so-called members of the medical unions, who had requested and insisted that their family members should also be vaccinated were seen yesterday at the National Hospital along with their family members to receive the vaccine.

GMOA Assistant Secretary Dr Navin De Zoysa told a news briefing that those heads of unions who threatened to take stern actions over the so-called injustice caused to them too have requested to get their family members vaccinated.

“We can even reveal the names with photos of those medical officers, who arrived at the National Hospital to get their family members vaccinated. However, we don’t want ourselves to be pushed to such an immoral state,” he said.   He said several unions had asked their relevant health workers to withdraw from service as a show of protest over this incident.
