Former Minister Mervyn Silva arrested over an incident that took place at Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation in 2007 was yesterday ordered to be released without furnishing bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Keminda Perera observed that it is unnecessary to impose bail against the person who took steps to ban cattle slaughter in Kelaniya area.
The Additional Magistrate ordered to release the former Minister after directing him to appear in court on 16th November.
Producing the former Minister before Court, the CID submitted to court that they have received Attorney General’s advise to arrest Mervyn Silva as a suspect over an investigation into an incident that took place at SLRC in 2007.
The Criminal Investigations Department yesterday arrested Mervyn Silva for forcibly entering SLRC premises in 2007.
