• Fishermen and naval personnel urged to keep away from the sea

Heavy rains, high winds, swell waves and surge tides are expected within the coming days, the Department of Meteorology forecast yesterday.

Rains that exceed 100 mm are expected in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North Western, Galle and Matara District during the coming days.

Wind speed around the seas outside South and Southeast of Sri Lanka is expected to exceed 70 km and in the deep sea areas in the Bay of Bengal. Swell waves and surges which could go up to three metres are also expected.

 Fishermen and naval personnel were asked to keep away from the sea.
The skies over Sri Lanka are expected to remain cloudy.
