With air connectivity disturbed in the West Asian region, Sri Lankans bound for Israel work have been requested to be alert on fight details before departure, an official said.
Sri Lankan Ambassador in Tel Aviv Nimal Bandara told Daily Mirror that flight operations between Dubai and Israel had been disrupted and therefore he informed Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau to notify Sri Lankans in this regard.
Fighting erupted between Hezbollah and Israel. Hezbollah says it carried out its much-awaited and promised retaliation for the killing of its top commander in late July, according to the foreign media.
Israeli media is saying that it appears Hezbollah did strike a strategic target.
The Israeli army is saying it carried out pre-emptive strikes, destroying rocket launchers across southern Lebanon.
It was one of the biggest attacks carried out by the Israeli military since the start of this conflict – a widespread attack targeting up to 40 locations.
Sri Lankan Ambassador in Lebanon Kapila Jayaweera also said Sri Lankans working there remain safe since the embattled regions are far away in the southern part of the country. Asked about the safety of Sri Lankans, he said, “Sri Lankans are safe.”
