MILCO Private Limited said they have resumed the milk powder manufacturing process and stocks will be back on the market shelves by April without increasing its prices, its chairman, Renuka Perera said.
He said the manufacturing of milk powder had been on hold during the last four months. He said fresh milk will be purchased directly from dairy farmers and another plan is to be executed to provide fresh milk for people in urban areas starting next week at concessionary prices.
To manufacture 35,000 milk packets, MILCO requires 100,000 litres of fresh milk per day. However, required milk powder pouches will be released to consumers during the new year, Perera said.
Though there is an increase in the price of raw materials, it will not be passed on to the consumer, the Chairman added.
