A millionaire who was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman who happened to be his employee was released by Colombo Magistrate on two sureties of Rs 300,000 each. The suspect had assaulted the victim at an auditorium of a five-star hotel in Colombo.
The suspect who was released has been identified as Aruna Priyankara who is an owner of a private institution in Kirulapone.
The complaint was filed with the Women and Child Protection Unit by a 30 year old woman.
The suspect had owned an establishment which sends students abroad on higher education. The victim had been invited to attend a seminar organized by this institution. She has been subjected to harassment when she went to attend the seminar.
Medical reports have revealed that the victim had been sexually harassed.
The lawyer who was retained by the suspect informed courts that the suspect had given a consent for the act.
