Minister clucks up: Says will crack down on chicken prices

Trade, Commerce, and Food Security Minister Nalin Fernando has revealed plans to tackle the escalating prices of chicken in the local market.   


“In the next two to three days, measures will be implemented to provide a solution and alleviate the burden on consumers,” he said.

  The Minister acknowledged the recent surge in retail prices has created concerns among the public. To address this issue, Minister Fernando stated that he would be conducting a meeting with poultry industry owners to discuss the challenges they are facing.  


“The primary focus of the discussions will be on increasing chicken production as a means to stabilize prices,” he said.
