The two boys who were missing from Kotadeniyawa since last November, have been found in Mirigama yesterday.
Police said a woman had handed over the two boys to the Mirigama Police yesterday.
The police initiated an investigation following a complaint that the two children had gone missing on November 23 from Kotadeniyawa.
The two boys aged 10 and 12-years, who happen to be cousins were handed over to the Kotadeniyawa Police for further investigations, police said.
The boys had told the police that they had left their homes due to their mothers constantly punishing them and chasing them out .
The boys have further told the police that they had spent several weeks begging in Negombo Town and had receievd food from various houses as well as shops and eateries. When the people in the town had inquired from them about their whereabouts, they had not divulged any details due to fear of being sent back to their parents.
The duo had also said that they spent 44 days hiding in a forest and had come to town in search of food.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Kotadeniyawa Police are conducting further investigations to find out further details of the children and how they went missing.
