The National People’s Power (NPP) was not ready to join any all-party government that was formed with President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Rajapaksa camp, NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said yesterday.

He told a news conference that this was not an all- party government but it is a government of Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Rajapaksa camp.   “This is not an all- party government. It is a SLPP government headed by Ranil Wickremesinghe and SLPP Prime Minister. Requesting other party’s to join an all-party government would only mean extending their support to Ranil-Rajapaksa government. The NPP is not ready to be party to such a government,” he said.

MP Dissanayake said the NPP from the beginning proposed that an all- party government should be formed for a short period of time, The Prime Minister should be appointed with consensus of all party leaders and file withdrawn cases against corruption again and so on.

He said nothing was mentioned in President’s policy statement regarding the task and the time frame of the all- party government.   Dissanayake said they were ready to support progressive matters, if the government proposed a short term action plan.
