Says Sri Lanka has continued to adhere to the same policy over the years

He told the briefing to announce weekly Cabinet decisions that Sri Lanka has continued to adhere to the same policy over the years.
Responding to a question, the Minister said when a new government was elected, the Cabinet decisions taken by the previous government has to be approved by the new Cabinet and that the proposal was presented to the Cabinet accordingly.
He said even if the President was not visiting China, the government will adhere to the One-China principle.
The Minister said President will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Bimal Ratnayake during the visit to China.
The Cabinet has approved a proposal presented by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, for Sri Lanka to continue adhering to the One-China principle. Sri Lanka has reaffirmed its strong commitment to this principle, recognizing the government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legal government representing all of China, with Taiwan regarded as an inalienable part of its territory.
