Negligence on the part of the officers in the then government resulted in the Easter Sunday attacks, said former state minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan.
He made this remark when he arrived at the Criminal Investigations Department’s (CID) to give a statement in relation to the ongoing probe over British media Channel 4’s documentary on the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
Pillayan expressed disappointment over a government department investigating what he described as unfounded allegations.
“Institutions like the CID should operate with intelligence and not be swayed by the whims of certain individuals,” he stated.
“This is political revenge. That’s why I have been summoned, despite having no involvement in the attacks. Why isn’t the CID recording statements from officers like Ravi Seneviratne and Shani Abeysekera?” he asked.
