Appointing new ministers will not serve any purpose and is a waste of public funds while the local population and the international community will not accept it, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) National Organizer Tissa Attanayake said yesterday.

“One cannot accept this government as an interim government which represents all political parties as old ministers have been reappointed wasting public funds. Therefore this government will not serve any purpose,” Mr. Attanayake told a media briefing.

“It has been reported that Sri Lanka has received only $ 249 million as foreign remittance for the month of April this year while there is a 52 percent decline of remittance in April compared to the previous month. Therefore it has been amply proven that the new government has not served any purpose,” he added.

He said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe should come up with a road map to revive the country’s crisis ridden economy.

“Former diplomat Udayanga Weeratunga who is a relative of the Rajapaksas has clearly stated that Mr. Wickremesinghe accepted the premiership to save President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Therefore Mr. Wickremesinghe should make a public statement clarifying this matter,” Mr. Attanayake said.
