No decision has yet been taken to impose curfew on April 3, Senior Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana said yesterday.

Speaking at the press conference at the Department of Government Information on the Mirihana Protest, Senior DIG Rohana said that it has not been decided to impose curfew as of yet.

Police imposed curfew in several areas in Colombo last night after a tense situation erupted during a protest near President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s residence in Mirihana. However, the curfew was lifted yesterday at 5 am.    Meanwhile Ajith Rohana said that those arrested during the protest will be charged under the Penal Code and Public Properties Act, but not under the PTA.   He said that three police teams, Colombo Crimes Division, CID and Western (North) Crimes Division are conducting investigations.    He also said that the property damage caused by the riot in Mirihana has been estimated at nearly Rs. 39 million.
