Serjeant-at-arms Parliament Narendra Fernando yesterday dismissed reports that there was an electricity breakdown during swearing-in ceremony of incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Mr. Wickremesinghe was sworn in at Parliament premises last morning. “We were using the generator to run power, but it was successfully moved on to the main power line. I was told that there was a breakdown in the live transmission of the ceremony on a state TV channel. I don’t know what went wrong with that transmission. However, I assure you that there was no breakdown of electricity in Parliament,” he said.
