Health Ministry yesterday said that there was no specific reason to allow the re-opening of spas in the country. Speaking to Daily Mirror, Deputy Director-General of Health Services Dr Hemantha Herath said that health authorities were gradually relaxing the guidelines after thoroughly studying the situation.
“Initially, we had strict guidelines where almost all business ventures were closed. When Covid-19 cases begin to decrease, we will begin easing the restrictions which are being imposed. Now, this is one of the categories of business ventures that is being allowed to operate. “We’ll have to see how it works out. If things do not work out in the way we want, we will take steps to revise the guidelines,” he added.
Dr Herath proceeded to say that the Health guidelines issued on Sunday are valid for 14 days and added if it is recommended to close spas and open something else, the authorities would take that decision accordingly. However, pubs & bars, casinos, night clubs, betting centers will remain closed as per the revised guidelines.
