None of the casino owners receive any tax concessions. Instead, they are required to pay a significant 70% of their income as taxes, Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said. Addressing a meeting at Ruwanwella last morning, he said that requests have been made by several casino owners to cut the amount of tax to be collected during the Covid-19 pandemic period, and it has now been forwarded to the Attorney General.
Casinos had operated without any regulations, but they have begun operating according to a regulation from this year.
The Minister further mentioned that Rs. 500 million will be charged as registration fees for 5 years when starting a casino business.
