The Government has launched a programme to provide dry rations to places of worship in distress due to non-receipt of alms from donors due to the island-wide Covid breakout and travel restrictions.
The approval was made following a request made by the Religious and Cultural Affairs Ministry and the announcement was made during the weekly Cabinet briefing yesterday.
Accordingly, the proposal was presented by the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister.
The Cabinet has approved the distribution of relief packs containing dry rations worth Rs. 5,000 purchased from Lanka Sathosa Limited to identified places of worship via Lanka Sathosa’s distribution network.
