Number of COVID-19 deaths dropped by half, says Epidemiology Chief

The analysis carried out the COVID-19 deaths has shown that  the number of deaths due to the virus has reduced by half, a top  medic said yesterday.   

Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera told media that  the number of deaths due to the COVID-19 had been around 10 daily in  the past, but now it is less than five.  Meanwhile, Dr. Samaraweera said the number of people who  get hospitalised voluntarily due to symptoms had also come down  significantly.   


Meanwhile, two more Covid deaths were reported by yesterday afternoon, increasing the toll to 581.
