The Education Ministry is to commence the academic activities of the GCE O/Level and A/Level grades from November 8.
The COVID Suppression Committee has recommended commencement of academic activities in grades 10, 11, 12 and 13 in all schools in the island.
Minister Dinesh Gunawardena addressed the media after paying homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy Saturday.
“The Primary education in all schools of the island is now going on very smoothly with a very optimal and high attendance rate.
It is also a great achievement for the students to be able to commence their studies in Grades 10, 11, 12 and 13 from November 8,” the Minister said.
It is very important to start the academic activities from grade 6 to grade 9 as soon as the health recommendation is received, as well as to manage the existing time frame, cover the missed syllabi, and plan the relevant sections to be conducted by now, the Minister said.
By moving in the right direction within that academic time frame, we will be able to reach the targets of holding the GCE Advanced Level and Year 5 Scholarship Examinations in the first quarter of 2022.
The Government, including the President and the Prime Minister, pay tribute to the principals, teachers, non-academic staff, health staff, political authorities and all those involved in resolving this situation.
