Commotion reigned in Parliament yesterday when certain SJB MPs jumped to the well of the House to stage a protest calling the Speaker to allow MP Rajan Ramanayake who has been convicted of contempt of court, to attend sessions.
The protest broke out after repeated requests made by Leader of the Oppositions Sajith Premadasa to allow Mr. Ramanayake to attend the sessions and to ensure his security because of death threats. Mr. Premadasa wanted an instant ruling from the Speaker. “ I want the Speaker to give a ruling immediately,”
he said.
