Over 300 traders have so far been found violating rice control price regulations during recent nationwide raids, according to Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) Director of Information Asela Bandara.
The CAA has intensified action to combat unethical trade practices.
These actions are part of an ongoing crackdown to ensure fair pricing in the rice market. Bandara revealed that the errant traders were apprehended during operations conducted since December 10.
Bandara also confirmed that legal proceedings against these violators is to be initiated soon.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake recently directed rice traders to sell Nadu rice to consumers at a wholesale price of Rs. 225 per kilo and a retail price of Rs. 230 per kilo,
