The Catholic Bishops Conference yesterday expressed their displeasure on the non-implementation of recommendations made by the Presidential Commission which probed the Easter Sunday attacks and on a host of other issues including environmental issues.

State Minister Nimal Lanza told Daily Mirror that the Bishops’ Conference including Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith expressed their displeasure over several issues when they met Catholic MPs in Colombo yesterday.

The topics included the Easter Sunday mayhem, the environmental damage caused by Xpress Pearl ship, selling of lands in Muthurajawela to companies and on Bodu Bala Sena.

“We were informed that Catholic Bishops Conference will issue an official statement on the appointment of a task force to implement one country one law concept,” Mr Lanza said.

Mr. Lanza confirmed that only he was the only Member of Parliament present from the government.

SJB MP Hector Appuhamy also confirmed that the bishops expressed their displeasure, especially about the non-implementation of recommendations made by the Presidential Commission which probed the Easter Sunday attacks.
