People are requested to exercise caution as three diseases see a surge in cases due to the ongoing inclement weather conditions on the island.
According to the Public Health Inspectors’ Union Head Upul Rohana, dengue, eye diseases, diarrhoea, and respiratory illnesses, often accompanied by high body temperatures, are spreading rapidly.
“The eye disease is spreading mainly in the Western and Uva Provinces, while other two diseases can be seen in many parts of the country,” he said.
He also highlighted a concerning increase in dengue cases across the island, particularly in areas that were recently submerged due to heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding.
Hence, Upul Rohana, stressed the importance of maintaining personal hygiene to control the spread of these illnesses.
