Ahead of a crucial week, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday paid homage to the historic Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura.
The Prime Minister also visited the Ruwanweli Seya and received blessings from the Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya, Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thero. The Prime Minister then proceeded to the Mirisawetiya Temple where he was received by the Chief Incumbent of the Temple, Ven. Dr. Ethalawetunuwewe Gnanatilake Nayaka Thero.
Meanwhile, protests were also held in the area against the Prime Minister’s visit while another group also held demonstration urging that he should continue to work as the PM to save the country from the situation it is in. The Prime Minister was hooted by some people during the visit to Anuradhapura.
