No election should be held in Sri Lanka according to the whims and fancies of the international community, an SJB MP said.  SJB MP Harshana Rajakaruna told a press conference that the Sri Lankan government has decided to hold a provincial council election following a request made by India and that the final decision on holding the election should be made by Sri Lanka.

“We are not against holding provincial council elections. We are ready even for a general election as our party has a great chance of winning any poll given the current political situation. However our party is against holding an election according to the whims and fancies of any country including India, China or United States,” Mr. Rajakaruna said, while alleging that the government had bowed down to the international community by deciding to hold the provincial council elections.

Also he alleged that the Sri Lankan government has decided to get the stocks of organic fertiliser which were subjected to certain questions with regard to its content. “ We have reliably learnt that a stock of organic fertiliser with harmful substances is on the way,” he said.
