Social media activist Pathum Kerner held in remand custody in connection with the recent violent incidents during a protest at Polduwa Junction was ordered to be released on bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawala ordered to release of the suspect on two sureties of Rs.500,000. The Court further issued an order preventing the suspect from leaving the country.
Pathum Kerner was produced before an identification parade, and he was identified by one of the witnesses.
The Additional Magistrate observed that there are no sufficient material to charge the suspect under the Public Property Act.
Pathum Kerner was arrested for committing offences under Public Property Act during a violent protest held near Polduwa junction on July 13.
Rienzie Arseculeratne PC with counsel Chamindri Arseculeratne, Udara Muhandiramge and Thilina Punchihewa appeared for the suspect.
