Whilst stating that Sri Lanka’s political culture should be changed, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Chairman Sarath Fonseka said people should get even SJB leaders to behave in the way they want.

“You should tell even leaders of our political party to behave in the way you want,” Field Marshal Fonseka told the SJB Bala Mandala meeting in Attanagalle over the weekend.

“What we see today is the continuous deceiving of people by the political leaders. They distribute some relief  during election time. They visit your homes if you have a wedding or a funeral. However you don’t look into their eligibility when you vote for them. You don’t see whether they have a vision to develop the nation. Therefore people are also responsible for the present status of the nation just like the politicians,” Fonseka said.
“Don’t vote for even SJB members if they don’t have a proper vision to build up the nation and are not genuinely patriotic,” he added.

“Some say that I am trying to gain through the ‘Aragalaya’. This is wrong.  Aragalaya is something that is in the minds of the people. I also have the Aragalaya in my mind. One does not have to go to Galle Face to engage in Aragalaya. You can do it yourself in your villages. You have to take to the street in numbers and engage in an unarmed revolution as the present Parliament system is not going to resolve your issues,” he also said.
