An opposition MP said yesterday people suspect a nexus between those who rule the country today and the perpetrators of Easter Sunday attacks.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harshana Rajakaruna told a press conference those in power might make way for another mayhem to get back to power. “People suspect that there is a connection between those who are responsible for the Easter attacks and those who rule the country today.

They came to power whipping up communal sentiments in the wake of the Easter Sunday attack. They might do it again to return to power as they are capable of doing anything to stay in power and regain power,” Mr. Rajakaruna said. “The remarks made by the Defence Secretary that there is a conspiracy to blame the attack on the President and the government is a blow aimed at Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith,” Mr. Rajakaruna added. Mr. Rajakaruna who also referred to the government’s decision to call for a 100 per cent cash margin requirement for the importation of non-essential goods questioned whether the government is making the Sri Lanka people not wear underwear. “One wonders whether the government’s decision to include underwear as a non-essential item is to discourage the people to use underwear,” he said.
