Sri Lanka received the largest consignment of 1,503,450 doses of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccines as a commercial arrangement yesterday to be administered in booster shots, State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana said.

Prof. Jayasumana, the State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals, said Sri Lanka had 14 million doses of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccines.

He said another three million doses would be dispatched to Sri Lanka during the first week of December.
“We have ordered 14 million doses. The stock will be delivered in batches of three million a week starting from December,” he said.

He said the health authorities had started administration of booster shots for people over 60.
Once vaccination is completed in this age category, he said, inoculation of others above 20 would begin.
