Police are clueless about the perpetrators of the killing of two women in a tea estate house in Badulla and the motive behind the killing.
Investigations only revealed that two men with masks had entered the line house by force and assaulted the three women with a clubs and sharp weapons.
The bodies of two elderly women lying in a pool of blood had been recovered by Badulla Police on Saturday morning (10) from a line house in Glenpin estate in Badulla. Another woman who had received serious injuries.
Police said the deceased were identified as H.M.Ranmenika (83) and her younger daughter R.M. Jayawathie (58) and that her elder daughter R.M.Misinona (62) who had received serious injures was admitted in a critical condition to Badulla General Hospital. Mother and younger daughter had been living all alone in the house for several years after the death of Ranmenika’s husband and the elder daughter living with her two children in the adjacent house. The elder daughter used to sleep with her mother and sister.
The younger daughter Jayawathi had been employed in the tea factory in the estate.
Badulla Magistrate Sujith De Silva who visited the scene had held the preliminary magisterial inquiry ordered police to refer the bodies to Badulla JMO and to conduct investigations to arrest the suspects.
