Police officer dies when his motorcycle veers off the road

A motorcycle had veered off the road and fallen into a canal at Karadibokku junction in Pooneryn causing the death of the rider. The deceased, 40-year-old PC Kumarasinghe of the Jaffna Police was a resident of Anuradhapura. He had died on admission to Kilinochchi hospital.  

Investigation revealed that he was returning after duty when he met with the accident. Police said the motorcycle had bumped against a street lamp post and fallen into the canal probably due to excessive speed.
