Police release sketches of suspects in Mt. Lavinia court shooting

Police yesterday released sketches of two suspects wanted over the shooting inside the Mount Lavinia Court premises on August 4, with a view to seeking public assistance to arrest them.

Police said the sketches suspected to be of the gunman and another who was wanted over aiding the shooting were drawn based on CCTV footage and information received from eye-witnesses.

They said the suspects had fled the scene in a car after the shooting and police also seek details of the car.
Police also released CCTV footage of the incident.

They requested the public to inform the Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Detective Bureau (DCDB) through 011-2717516 or Mount Lavinia Police Station via 071-8591664 if they have any information on the suspects and the vehicle.

A gunman had opened fire at another man while he was sitting in the accused dock inside the court. However, no one was injured in the shooting.
