Chief Incumbent of Mihintale Rajamaha Vihara Ven. Walawahengunawewe Dhammarathana Thera said a large group of politicians were obstructing the plans of President Ranil Wickremesinghe and pulling him by his leg.

Addressing a ceremony yesterday at the temple to mark World Children’s day Ven. Thera said he always highlighted the predicament of the people without praising corrupt politicians and that a conspiracy was being hatched to assassinate him but he was not scared of death.

“ Several politicians in the area are attempting to open liquor shops and slaughter houses in Mihintale town, but I have foiled their plans. Political stooges are carrying on propaganda against me through social media. They have said “this man in robes should be destroyed” However, I am not scared of death threats.”

“During a recent ceremony held with the participation of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardene, I said that the present system should change based on the preaching of Maharahath Mahinda who brought Buddhism to Sri Lanka We should abandon all political, religious and communal differences. I pointed out that the provincial and local government election would be just a waste of public funds. Politicians never lose and it is the people who fall prey to their cheating since independence. The people are only slaves.”

“It is a matter of serious concern that media personnel who are political stooges have insulted me by saying that the new preaching hall is a hotel. The project initiated during the time of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and completed during the time of President Maithripala Sirisena. It was implemented under the supervision of the Director General of Archaeology.” Ven. Dhammarathana Thera said.

He further said more than 30 tourist hotels in Mihintale were owned by ministers and MPs.
