A request made by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) for 6½ hours power shedding until Friday (April 8) has been approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL).

The CEB made the request due to the limited supply of fuel for thermal power plants.

Accordingly, the areas that come under A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K and L will face a four-hour power cut from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm and 2½ hours from 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm.  The areas under P, Q, R, S, T, U, V and W will experience four-hour power interruption from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm and again 2½ hours from 6.00 pm to 11.00 pm.  Meanwhile, a 3½ hour power cut will be imposed in areas that come under C and C1 from 6.00 am to 9.30am.
