President Anura Kumara Dissanayake should make a public statement and inform the nation whether his government is following “A rich country and a bright future” which is his party’s policy or “Sri Lanka can” policy which is ours, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday.
Mr. Wickremesinghe who met some lawyers at his office said the President should clearly state what his government stands for before the Parliamentary election.
“There is uncertainty when it comes to policies followed by the present government at the moment. IMF has not accepted the tax policies proposed by the government. Accordingly, the President should explain to the nation as to what his government is planning to do, “ he said.
Also, Mr. Wickremesinghe said majority of NPP members do not believe in the notion that Parliament is a den of thieves.” Only a handful of NPP members believe in this allegation. This year’s Presidential election is a battle to save Parliament,” he said during a meeting in Delgoda later in the evening.
