Only people who were actually needed had accompanied President Ranil Wickremesinghe on his recent tour to London to attend the funeral of British Monarch Queen Elizabeth the second, Spokesperson from the President’s office said yesterday.
According to the spokesperson only President Wickremesinghe, Ms. Wickremesinghe, a special aide, three society personnel and the Director International Affairs President’s office were included in the tour party. “The Director International Affairs had to join in the tour to organize media coverage in UK.,” she said. The spokesperson was responding to the comment made by MP Kumara Welgama who said the delegation which the President took to the UK was a bit high.
