Protesters entering SLRC: Court calls for a progress report on investigations

The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court yesterday issued an order directing the Cinnamon Gardens Police to submit a progress report pertaining to the investigations against the three suspects including Dhaniz Ali for forcibly entering the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.

 Police had arrested three suspects including a leading Galle Face protest site activist Dhaniz Ali for allegedly entering Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and causing damages to public property.


Colombo Chief Magistrate Nandana Amarasinghe ordered the police that a progress report pertaining to the ongoing investigations be submitted to court on September 26.   The three suspects were arrested for entering the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and attempted to disrupt television telecasts on July 13. Dhaniz Ali was arrested by the CID while trying to leave for Dubai on a flight from the Bandaranaike International Airport on July 26.
