A leading Galle Face protest site activist Dhaniz Ali held in remand custody for allegedly entering Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and causing damages to public property was yesterday ordered to be released on bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Nandana Amarasinghe ordered to release the suspect on a cash bail of Rs.25,000 with two sureties of Rs.500,000. The Chief Magistrate observed that there are no sufficient materials before Court to remand the suspect under Public Property Act.

Ali was accused of entering the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and attempted to disrupt television telecasts on July 13. He was arrested by the CID while trying to leave for Dubai on a flight from the Bandaranaike International Airport on July 26.
