Police yesterday warned the public to be vigilant of the circulation of fake 100 Dollar notes and
Sri Lankan currency notes.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the scam was revealed by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) following further investigations conducted into the raids carried out by the local police in Anuradhapura, Kantale and Valaichchenai.  He said several raids had been conducted by the police during the month of April in respect of printing fake currency notes.

The CID has revealed in their investigations that the perpetrators had printed fake 100 Dollar notes in addition to the printing of Sri Lankan currency notes.   Police advised people to be vigilant when exchanging dollars and requested people to inform of any information of fake currency notes on 0112-326670 or 0112-320145.
