Public in the Parliament area line up to attack MPs

General public living in the vicinity in Parliament were seen lined up with broom sticks and ekel brooms to attack the MPs down Nelum Mawatha yesterday.   

The Wijeya Newspapers Limted (WNL) lobby reporters witnessed this scene while returning from Parliament down Nelum Mawatha.   

The hostile crowds have argued with some TV journalists as well according to eye witnesses.   

Meanwhile Serjeant-at-arms Narendra Fernando said all three entrances were blocked by the protesters and arrangements were made to send the MPs out early. “We requested the Speaker to adjourn the sessions so that MPs and staff could be made to go out safely,” he said.
