Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday requested that the true situation of the foreign reserves in the country and monthly economic situation reports be presented to Parliament.

He stated that allegations have emerged that once the SWAP facilities and Credit Lines are removed, our current foreign reserves are below US $1Bn.

Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardena said new provisions has to be made for such an eventually. “Mid-year financial reviews are currently tabled in the House as per the standing orders. One wonders whether the opposition wants this amended. It is the party leaders who should decide on it” Mr. Gunawardena said.
