Cabinet spokesman, Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella while admitting that the government held a discussion in Parliament recently about a certain top TV station with a team of lawyers, said it was held entirely according to the law.
He said that opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has given unnecessary publicity to the discussion and made it a big issue in Parliament.
“We did not discuss this with the underworld but with lawyers who are conversant with the problem in a bid to review the measures that could be taken under the law. We have not used thuggery either to resolve issues,” he stressed. “Besides, the rightful owners of frequencies rented out to electronic media institutions are the people.
